All First Aid and CPR courses are tentatively on hold from 21st March 2020 onward following advice received from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. Our course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The course applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
On the day of the practical session, our trainers work with participants drawing on the knowledge and skills gained during their pre-course study. The training focuses on knowledge reinforcement and skills performance required to be assessed as competent for this unit.
8 Hours (plus 2-8 Hours pre-course study)

- Introduction to first aid
- Legal and social issues in first aid
- Workplace health and safety
- Hygiene and infection control
- Basic human anatomy
- Treating the casualty
- Basic life support
- Assess an incident scene
- Conduct DRSABCD
- Provide CPR procedures
- Roll patient into recovery position
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use
- Venomous bites and stings
- Medical emergencies
Fitness to Participate – the ability the perform CPR unassisted for two (2) minutes on the floor.
Unique Student Identifier (USI) – all participants must hold a USI to receive a certificate for an accredited training course. To create a USI, go to www.usi.gov.au.
Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills are required to communicate, complete, undertake written and practical assessment activities. If you have any concerns regarding the LLN requirements, please contact our training department on 03 9394 1288 for assistance.
PRE-COURSE STUDY REQUIREMENTS
A pre-course workbook will be required to be completed by each participant prior to the practical training day. The pre-course workbook and a student handbook are posted to the postal address supplied by the booking contact at the time of booking.
Failing to complete the pre-course workbook prior to the course means the participant may not be able to attend the practical training session. If unable to complete prior, please contract our training department on 03 9394 1288 to find out what the process would be to attend the training.
As we are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) our participants will be awarded a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment on the successful completion of the training and assessment for this course. The unit of competency covered in this course is:
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID003 Provide first aid
In line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines First Aid must be refreshed every three years and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) must be refreshed annually.
