Our First Aid training course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to provide a first aid response including CPR, manage casualties, the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
The course is delivered in a Flexible Learning Mode. It is designed for self-starters, first-time learners and first aiders who prefer a mix of self-directed study and trainer-facilitated review/assessment.
The Flexible program consists of 2 components:
- A self-study component and
- A face-to-face classroom session including assessment of competency.
Trainer/Assessors use a variety of training approaches including class and small group discussions, first aid critical incident scenario simulations, workbook exercises, sustained practice of CPR and other first aid skills and relevant audio-visual materials to support learning to competency.
Upon enrolment, each learner will receive an information package with study guidelines and course workbook. Working through each section of the workbook provides the necessary knowledge base to answer the questions throughout the workbook. These must be completed prior to attending the Classroom session as a summative assessment will be conducted prior to commencing the Face-to-Face learning.
On the day of the classroom session, trainer/assessors work with learners, drawing on the knowledge and skills learners have gained during their pre-workshop study. The training focuses on knowledge reinforcement and skills performance required to be assessed as competent for this unit.
Throughout the course, participants will experience and use a wide selection of first aid equipment and gain practical experience in the use of suitable first aid solutions.
